To
observe the Independence Day and anniversary of the Liberation
War Museum, authorities of the museum declares weeklong
celebration

Liberation
War Museum has decided to celebrate the 6th anniversary
of the organisation and 31st anniversary of the country's
independence in a befitting manner. The museum authorities
have chalked out detailed series of programs entitled 'Jiboner
Joygaan' that will begin from March 21 and will continue
for a week till the Day of Independence on March 26.
'The Concert for Bangladesh' was held in the Madison Square
garden in 1971 to raise funds for the refugees of Bangladesh.
On March 21, this same concert will be remade with a new
title 'The Concert in Bangladesh' and will be performed
at the Osmany memorial auditorium in the city to pay tribute
to the legendary singer George Harrison and Pandit Ravi
Shankar. The concert that will start at 6:30 p.m. will be
participated by renowned artists of the country.'The Concert
for Bangladesh' will specially, be organised to raise fund
for the museum. Card for this concert is available at the
office of the Liberation War Museum and at Astra Club in
Gulshan, Travel House and Cyber Cafe at Dolce Vita in Banani.
The
6th anniversary of the museum will begin on March 22 at
10.00 a.m. at the museum's cafe theater with a presentation
of children's program. Eminent cultural researcher Shamsuzzaman
Khan will present anniversary speech in the evening which
will be followed by folk songs (baul-gaan) to be presented
by different groups of the country. On March 23 Banglar
Gaan (Music of Bengal) will be presented by eminent singer
Shubir Nandi which will be followed by dance performance
by 'Nrittom Dance Troupe' under the direction of eminent
classical dancer Tamanna Rahman, at the museum's cafe theater
at 6:30 p.m.
On
March 24 main programs will include presentation of cultural
soiree by Chayanaut at the cafe theater at 6:30 p.m. Lightning
of candles in remembrance of the martyrs of the dark night
of 1971, will take place on the evening of March 25 at the
museum. In addition, there will be a session of poetry recitation
by leading recitation groups of the country. On the last
day of the weeklong celebration, 'People's song' by Protul
Mukhopaddya will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the café theatre.
